ITALIAN RFI INVEST IN SIRIA - 12/20/2010

An important agreement has been made to improve sirian railway infrastructure

A cooperation agreement was signed between the Italian State Railways and the Syrian (Chemins de Fer Syrien) in Damascus, Syria. Through this joint enterprise created by the participation of Italferr (Group Fs) and Chemins de Fer Syrien (CFS) engineering services will be provided to the Syrian and the Middle Eastern railway. The country needs an improvement in the infrastructure looking at the existing potential for tourism and commercial traffic by rail and sea transport as an alternative to the Suez Canal which has now reached a saturation level.
