MENA REGION
The acronym MENA REGION (Middle East and North Africa) includes a wide region that extends from north-west Africa, from Morocco to South-West Asia, or to Iran. The region includes the entire Middle East and all countries of North Africa.
The term used mainly commercially and academically, since there is no standard definition, nor is there free trade within the area. These countries share geographical and cultural similarities. The countries that belong to it are:
Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates.
The population of the MENA region is about 400 million people or about 6% of world population.
This region has vast reserves of oil and natural gas that make it a vital aspect of global economic stability. 60% of global oil reserves and 45% of natural gas reserves in the world come from here: just think, in fact, that 8 of the 12 OPEC countries are within this area.
